Abstract
I would like to speak to you today about the current
situation in the Romanian steel industry and about what I believe should be the preferred route
for successful restructuring. In order to do this I will first focus on the historical and current
shape of the Romanian steel industry. I will then describe some of the broader developments in
the privatisation and restructuring of the Central European steel industry. And finally, I will turn
to some implications for successful restructuring of the Romanian steel industry.
