Abstract
I would like to speak to you today about strategic opportunities in the steel
industry in the twenty first century. In order to do this I will first focus on historical developments and the current shape of the world steel industry. I will then describe some of the broader developments in the privatisation and restructuring of the industry. Finally, I will turn to some implications for success for future steel industry participants. By way of example, I will highlight some opportunities I see for developments within the Middle
East.
