Hatch's experience in the design of large hydroelectric developments encompasses projects in Canada, China, India, Ghana, Iran, Pakistan, Thailand and Colombia among others. These projects, which have been as large as 5,000 MW in capacity, have included high and low-head plants, pumped storage, large reservoir and run-of-river schemes. These developments have included Pelton wheels, Francis units of up to 550 MW and Kaplan units of up to 130 MW.
The hydroelectric developments have had configurations ranging from close-coupled to long and large penstock layouts, major power canals, large underground and surface powerhouses. Major spillways with design capacities in excess of 20,000 m3/s and major tunnels, intakes, desanders, and other pertinent structures have all been designed and managed by our staff.
