Abstract
It is a well-known adage that "what gets measured gets done'. This is particularly relevant to addressing
environmental issues in industry where firstly optimum plant performance is required at all times, and where
continuous improvement, or environmental upgrade programs require a sound business case prior to
implementation. The establishment of a system of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), an accurate historical
performance database, and readily available live plant data are integral to this process.
