Abstract
In this article, we point out the increasing need for online integrated data from process (plants) and business in order to minimize wrong managerial decisions that may affect the company's results and consequently its continuity. In other words, we are declaring the necessity of interoperability between plant and business systems. The approach is developed upon the analysis of a simplified relationship for cost production. In section 3 we briefly describe Hatch's approach to data integration between plant and business systems and provide 2 examples of such integration. The first example outlines the company's use of integrated information from the entire organization, while the second example covers a more technically-oriented need from plants, the so called process supervision based on process data as well as some advanced algorithms.
