Abstract
The development of an advanced mill control system for the Leeudoom milling circuit is described. The control system is unique in that it performs both stabilising control as well as economic optimisation of the circuit. The control system is implemented using a hybrid control framework, based on the use of agent and blackboard technology, coupled with intelligent control algorithms such as fuzzy logic. The control system delivers significant operating benefits and has been found to be robust and easy to maintain.
